Message to Wings Members on Coronavirus (COVID-19) Pandemic

March 25, 2020 Update: Wings Continues Serving Members as an Essential Service

Today, Minnesota Governor Tim Walz issued an executive order mandating all non-essential services shut down and for residents of Minnesota to stay at home for a period of two weeks beginning Friday evening, March 27 at 11:59 p.m. as we try to slow the spread of the Coronavirus. Credit Unions like Wings and the entire financial services industry are exempt from this lockdown considering the vital role these services play in our economy.

The health of our employees and members remains our top priority, and we have taken many steps to keep everyone as safe from the spread of the virus as possible. At the same time, we want to ensure you have access to your accounts and other services. We are committed to doing both.

While we have closed our branch lobbies, we continue serving members through our drive-ups with expanded service hours and Personal Teller Machines, through our expanded National Contact Center with employees from across the organization providing additional capacity, through our digital services, and our large surcharge-free ATM Network. Many of our employees are currently working remotely, and those who are working in our offices are practicing social distancing. Reminder: (All drive-ups, PTMs and our Contact Center are open to serve you weekdays from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Central Time; Saturdays 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Central time.)

We know there is a great deal of anxiety around announcements like the one made today. Rest assured that your money at Wings is federally insured by the National Credit Union Administration (NCUA) up to a minimum of $250,000 per individual, and while there may be a temptation to stock up on cash, we recommend relying on your Debit or Credit Card and our online or mobile tools for spending and managing your money.

For members who have concerns about making loan payments, please use our Skip-a-Pay tool in CU Online or mobile banking for eligible consumer loan payments with no fee. For other loans, please contact us by phone and we will work with each member through their unique circumstances.

In the current environment, information is changing daily, and sometimes even more frequently. Our goal is to maintain access to your accounts and provide the great service you expect. Please continue to watch your email and check our COVID-19 web page for the most up-to-date information.

March 19, 2020 Update: Wings is Here to Serve You, But the Way We Do That is Changing

As we continue adapting to new developments related to COVID-19, Wings is ensuring our members have complete access to their accounts with the superior service you have come to expect while helping keep both our members and employees healthy.

To do that, we are expanding some drive-up access hours, increasing our call center staffing, and reminding all members of the various capabilities available through our digital channels and ATM networks.

Beginning this Friday, March 20th, we are closing our branch lobbies and ask all members to use the drive up for branch transactions. Our lobbies will be available by appointment for select transactions. Your assistance in maintaining safe social distancing will help all of us get through this challenging time if you do need to visit a branch. Current updates with details on branch locations are below.

Current Updates:

March 12, 2020 Update:

For the past several weeks Wings has been closely monitoring the information surrounding the Coronavirus outbreak around the world. Our top priority is the safety and health of our members and employees, and we wanted to let you know some of the things we’re doing to protect our branches and headquarters.

Wings, like most companies, spends considerable time planning for unexpected events like natural disasters and even illness outbreaks. While you never know when these things will happen, Wings is in a strong position to continue serving our members.

We are monitoring the situation and taking appropriate action based on the guidance provided by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the Minnesota Department of Health.

Current Actions
At this time, all of our offices and operations, including our Contact Center, are open during regular business hours and ready to serve members. In the event we need to temporarily change hours or close any of our locations, we will proactively keep you informed via email, our website, and social media.

Here are some specific preparations we have made:

  • Branches and headquarters buildings cleaned thoroughly daily; restrooms cleaned multiple times daily
  • In addition to regular cleanings, we’ve asked our cleaning crews take additional preventive measures to specifically address concerns related to the Coronavirus
  • Provided branches with hand sanitizer and gloves for employees who choose to wear them
  • Continued support of our employees, encouraging them to take the time they need at home to care for themselves or loved ones

What Can Members Do?
We always welcome members to visit our branches, but if you are concerned, we have many options for conducting most of your banking needs. As you plan your visit, we ask that you assess your personal health condition. To protect other members, our employees and the public in general, if you have concerns about your health or are ill, we ask that you stay home and look at other options that you have to manage your accounts with Wings. In most cases, it’s faster and easier to manage your accounts with our online and mobile banking options.

  • Mobile App – 24-Hour Access
Download our mobile app for most transactions, including depositing checks.
  • CU Online and wingsfinancial.com – 24-Hour Access
Our web site and CU Online are great ways to conduct your banking from your computer or tablet.
  • Over 70,000 Surcharge-Free ATMS – wingsfinancial.com/locations
Surcharge-free ATMs are available at many major retailers and other businesses through the Allpoint, CO-OP and MoneyPass ATM Networks in addition to those owned by Wings.
  • National Contact Center – 1 (800) 692-2274
Call our contact center for personal service by phone. Should more members choose this option, please understand wait times could be longer than usual. Hours are Monday – Friday: 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Central Time; Saturdays: 9:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. Central Time.

For over 80 years Wings has been a trusted partner with our members and the communities we serve. Wings has thrived even in tough times through the support of all our members, and we are a strong and growing organization positioned well to get through the current situation. We look forward to continuing that tradition of providing great service to our members.
