Wings Credit Union was originally chartered by 7 Northwest Airlines employees who recognized the value of a cooperative financial institution where members help each other succeed financially. In this cooperative spirit, Wings is a not-for-profit financial institution where members are also owners. All earnings are reinvested in the credit union in the form of higher savings yields, lower loan rates, fewer and lower fees – as well as in-person, mobile and online service options.
Today, Wings gives flight to over 364,000 members’ dreams worldwide. While members often remark that Wings has a small community feel, we have the size and scale to offer superior pricing and service. At over $9.6 billion in assets, Wings is Minnesota’s largest credit union and ranks among the nation’s top 40 credit unions.

History
Founded in 1938 by 7 airline employees, Wings Credit Union has become one of the nation’s largest credit unions. While much has changed in 80+ years, our commitment to unsurpassed member service and superior financial products remains the same.
Foundation
Wings believes in the value of financial education. The Wings Financial Foundation exists to promote financial literacy initiatives in our communities and assist individuals in becoming financially empowered and independent.

Giving back, getting involved.
Wings has a longstanding commitment to making a positive difference in the communities we serve – including the local areas where we operate, as well as the organizations we partner with. To benefit and strengthen these communities, Wings provides active volunteer efforts and financial donations.
American Cancer Society Relay for Life
A community-based walk event to raise funds for cancer research and improving patients' quality of life.
The American Red Cross
A humanitarian organization that provides emergency assistance, disaster relief, and disaster preparedness education.
Toys for Tots
A program run by the U.S. Marine Corps which distributes toys to children whose parents cannot afford to buy them gifts for Christmas.
Wings charitable giving policy.
Wings will consider supporting organizations that benefit or are associated with the following:
- The Minneapolis/St. Paul metro areas, as well as other geographic locations where Wings Credit Union operates
- The U.S. air transportation community
- Education based youth organizations
The following organizations are not eligible:
- Individuals
- Political, labor, or fraternal organizations
- Religious organizations (for example, churches and synagogues). However, some community service programs may be eligible, even when sponsored by religious groups
- Organizations that deny service to an individual on the basis of race, religion, color, sex, sexual orientation, age, national origin, ancestry, citizenship, veteran, or disability status
