APPLE VALLEY, Minn. (March 2, 2021) — Minnesota’s largest credit union, Wings, announced today that it will add a full-service branch office in Northfield. The new office will be located near the Northfield Target store at 2333 Highway 3 South and is expected to open in late Q2 2021. This location, the first in Rice County, will bring the credit union’s total number of branches in Minnesota to 26.

“Our mission is to help give flight to our members’ financial dreams and this new location will help in that goal. Wings has a lot to offer the people of the Northfield community, including the latest digital and technology solutions for consumer financial services, market-leading rates, nationally recognized service and free financial education,” said Frank Weidner, Wings President and Chief Executive Officer. “Wings is excited to join the vibrant Northfield business community and serve a growing membership in the Northfield area.”

Additionally, Wings Financial Foundation has committed a $7,000 donation to the Northfield Downtown Development Corporation (NDDC) business support fund. The NDDC is dedicated to strengthening small businesses in the district, providing support and resources for them to succeed through the current COVID-19 pandemic and in the future. Downtown businesses interested in applying for support can find more information at www.nddc.org.

“Northfield’s downtown is a vibrant, diverse community of businesses looking out for each other and serving as the heart and soul for the greater area,” said Greg Siems, NDDC Executive Director. “We are honored to receive Wings' donation and appreciate their significant investment in the community."

“Our commitment to exceptional service and value extends beyond our current and future members, which is why we’re thrilled to support NDDC,” said John Wagner, Wings Credit Union Chief Member Experience Officer. “We have a longstanding commitment to making a positive difference in the communities we serve and look forward to being an active part of Northfield and supporting the thriving downtown district.”

Wings will feature new, easy-to-use Express Teller technology inside the branch and in the drive thru, providing premier service to the Northfield community.

The modern branch design reflects Wings’ commitment to delivering the latest technology with individualized service. The branch is designed by Pope Architects, will be built by Bainey Group Construction Services, and managed by Frauenshuh Real Estate.
