K through 5th Grade Classes
Our youth classes are tied to MN State Standards. Whenever possible, we also include hands on activities for the students to experience the content. Each class is between 40-60 minutes in length and can be virtual or in-person. If there is a financial education topic you would like presented, but do not see listed, please ask.
Understanding Needs vs Wants/Goods & Services (K-1)
Students will explore the differences between needs and wants and goods and services through hands-on and movement-based activities.
Can I Buy Everything I Want? (K-1)
Students will explore the concept of spending and making choices with limited resources. This lesson will include a short story as well as a hands-on activity.
Making Choices and Learning Opportunity Costs (2)
Students will practice currency recognition along with making choices. This lesson will include a hands-on activity exploring opportunity costs.
What is an Entrepreneur? (3)
Students will work within small groups to build a business plan which will be shared at the end of the class.
Digging for Natural Resources (4-5)
This will focus on natural resources and their uses. This lesson will include a fun, interactive mining challenge activity.
Profit and Loss (4-5)
Student will learn the concept of profit, loss, and revenue. Through an experiential game, they will calculate various profit and loss scenarios and record their findings.
6-12 Grade (Teen) Classes
The Budget Challenge
(Middle School)
One of our most popular classes designed for middle school. The Budget Challenge will engage middle schoolers in the budget making process. They will choose a career and manage their income with different life expenses.
Dollars and Decisions: Budget Simulation (High School)
This experiential lesson will challenge students to make spending decisions based on a life scenario. A great program option for students to explore money management in a fun and engaging way.
Covering Your Bases: Insurance 101 (Middle and High School)
Insurance is a “safety net” that we all should have in case of accidents or emergencies. This class will explore the most popular types of insurance and what it can do for you.
Making Cents of Banking
(Middle and High School)
Students will be introduced to basic financial vocabulary and banking terms. This class will explore some of the basic services that financial institutions offer.
Building Wealth: Intro to Investing (High School)
This class will explore the concept of investing. We will cover the basics of investing, the risks and rewards, as well as introduce some of the more common investing accounts available.
Borrowing Basics: Understanding Credit (High School)
What is credit and why is it important? This class will explore the world of loans and credit in the US financial system.
Does Money Buy Happiness (High School)
Students will explore the age-old question of whether money can bring happiness or not. This lesson will feature Cashy, an engaging personal finance game that challenges students to balance money and life.
Cruising into Car Ownership (High School)
Car buying can be an intimidating experience for many. This class will break down the process, from car selection to getting a car loan.
Digital Defense: How to Protect Yourself from Fraud (High School)
Identity theft is a scary but growing problem. This class will introduce students to what Identity theft is, and how we can protect ourselves from it. Furthermore, this class will explore good strategies to protect ourselves from online scammers.
Prep for Success: Planning your College Journey (High School)
College can be an expensive and rewarding experience. This class will cover some of the main financial considerations to take when planning for college.
Home Sweet Home: Choosing the Right Housing for You (High School)
This class will explore ways to prepare for most people’s biggest monthly expense, housing.
Price of Parenthood: Understanding the Costs of Raising a Child (High School)
Raising a child is a big responsibility! This class will guide students through some of the financial considerations of raising a child.
